If there is a travel
which can be qualified as exceptional, it certainly the travel
from Kathmandu to Lhasa. Mysterious land, mythical country, Tibet
or "Roof of the world" has remained very authentic
because of its severe climate and the absence of communication
which have protected it for long-time from foreign influences.
Despite the Chinese efforts to suppress during the Cultural Revolution,
the religion, the traditions & the life around the remaining
monasterys are still as alive and well preserved as Alexandra-David
NEEL described at the beginning of this century. This is a land
of predilection for photography, wild landscapes, the life and
the Tibetan Buddhist religion.
But we do not go to Tibet for its gastronomy nor for the quality
of its hotels. Both can be qualified as very rudimentary and
often very precarious; we advise that for the future travellers.
Altitude is the next thing to be fully aware of. Lhassa its at
the altitude of 3600m and the most part of your journey will
be on the average altitude of 4000m and plus. |

Trekking Program |
|
|
Day 1. Arrival in Kathmandu Welcome at airport
by a member of our office and transfer to hotel. Quite hotel
2 minutes from center of Thamel. Accompany, First short visit
of Katmandu . (Arrival day to be necessarily on Sunday, Monday
or Tuesday, at least to could have a Chinese visa. If you arrived
Wednesday or Thursday, it's needs to pay 20 dollars supplementary
for "express visa permit" for Chinese visa).
Day 2 Morning, accompany visit of Pashupatinath,
Swyambunath and biger Stuppa of Nepal Bodhnat End of afternoon
free to prepare your departure for Tibet.
Day 3. Departure for Kodhari by bus (the border
of Nepal-Tibet) Nepali customs formalities, passage by walk from
"Friendship bridge" to go in chinese Zone and Departure
for Zhangmu by Landcruser at Tibet (about 1h). Chinese formalities
(which can be longs) and installation in a Guest house at Zhangmu
or Nyalam. (bank to change at Zhangmu, only one until Lhassa).
Day 4. Departure early in the morning, long
day until Tingri with passage of 2 passes more then 5000m.
Day 5-6. Departure to Xigatse, visits, notably
of Tashilumpo and , the seat of panchen Lama.
Day 7. Departure to Gyantse and visits of monasteries.
Day 8.
Departure to Lhassa after
making magnificent tour of Yamdrok lake, a pass at 5200m .
Day 9-10. Lhassa, visits Pothala palace, ancient
palace of Dalaï Lama, Visits of Jokhand and Barkhor Norbulinka.
Day 11. Lhassa, visit the monasteries of Drepung
and Serra .
Day 12. Departure to Kathmandu by morning flight

TREK UNDER TENT: Camping trek includes a team of guide,
assistant, cook & porters to accompany you. Porters carry
all trekking gears, food, fuel, & personal belongings, and
cook and assistants prepares hot meals. Trekkers carry only small
bag or what they might need during the day. we provide dining
tents, sleeping tents, mattress and toilet tents. |

TREK IN LODGE. The lodges are simple mountain shelters,
providing meals (very good local food) and simple rooms with
2 or 4 beds (Only in Ledhar and Phedi, it is a common dormitory).
In each lodge, you find a room with water (same as shower) for
bath. The treks in lodge pass in a very convivial atmosphere
permitting to have a closer look of Nepalese mountain life and
to encounter new person every day. It also permits to be in warm
room (kitchen and restaurant room) in cold season… |

FOOD DURING
TREK: Base of meals during
the trek are, rice, noodles, potatoes, (porridge for breakfast).
all are slow-sugar, its the best food for well walking. In lodge-trek
the lunch is taken in lodges on the way ( hot meal). The guide
order the food |

Note: All participants have to give a copy
of their insurance, with the address, tel and fax number of insurance
company. This insurance has to cover the helicopter rescue in
case of accident or sickness. In case of your insurance don't
cover helicopter rescue, you have to fill a form in Kathmandu
and make agreement that you will pay yourself the amount of expenses
paid by Nepal Ecology Treks for your helicopter rescue or research.
Without this agreement, you cannot participate in trek.
** In
trek the guide is allowed
to change the itinerary, depending of the weather, climate and
the physical condition of participants. Each participant who
stop his trek or make this trek more-fast cannot ask any money
compensation to the agency. |
